UCC has a couple of special events coming up in the next month that both relate to plastic pollution. The UCC Earth Summit at 1 pm ET on Saturday, April 10th will feature Sharon Lavigne and Diane Wilson who have won the Goldman Prize (the “Green” Nobel Prize) for their struggles against one of the largest plastics producers in the world. Bill McKibben will also keynote the summit.
On May 1st, the UCC will another event that will feature Judith Enck, the President of Beyond Plastics. As part of the UCC Climate Action Assembly hosted by the UCC Council for Climate Justice, Enck will speak on a form of legislation that promotes what is known as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Currently, six states have EPR laws and more are considering EPR as a means of reducing plastics. Sign-up to join us!
