Our Journey

A Welcoming Environment

We’re a congregation of friendly, open and honest people who have discovered the freedom and joy of a genuine faith. There is no pretense — it’s not necessary!

Who Are We?

We are parents, singles, teens, young children and seniors who seek to live out our faith daily in our varied walks of life. We come from several denominational backgrounds, including Congregational, Evangelical and Reformed, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Episcopal, and Lutheran.

We are governed by a consensus of our members — we are not united by agreement in all things, but in all things by mutual concern.  We hold a strong, corporate faith in God as revealed in our Lord Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we believe God to be a God of love who calls us to a life of active, courageous love for God and neighbors everywhere.  In Christ, as a banner in our narthex joyously proclaims, “WE ARE ONE!”

Dynamic Worship

Our pastor emphasizes worship. Every Sunday you will experience contemporary language, inspiring and creative music, challenging and uplifting preaching, a special time for young worshipers, and a loving and welcoming atmosphere.

A Place for Children

Our Christian Education team seeks to provide a loving, learning experience for all children. Study materials are interesting, inviting and centered in God’s love. A nursery is provided. Following the “Word with Young Worshipers,” church school is provided. Junior and Senior High youth are encouraged to participate in worship. Children and youth are important at the Brecksville United Church of Christ!

Children participate in worship, carrying in the Peace Candle and serving as acolytes. In addition to directing an adult choir and small instrumental ensemble, our Director of Music works with the children to provide age-appropriate participation in worship through music.

Mission and Outreach

We seek to make God’s love known through our participation in a variety of mission activities. Locally, these include care for homeless families through the Interfaith Hospitality Network.  Also, we donate food for the hungry through contributions to a local pantry, and provide volunteers for serving meals at an area hunger center.
