SEASONAL CHOIR

will begin preparing music for Holy Week on Thursday night, February 15 from 7:00-8:00. Rehearsals run weekly over the course of Lent. A wonderful opportunity for music, fellowship, and spiritual preparation for Holy Week, which is scheduled for March 25-April 1 this year. Listening CDs provided to help make the learning process easier. High school students are welcome to participate.

2017 Advent Book

Each year, members of our congregation share thoughts and memories of the holidays, together with prayers inspired by the daily readings of the season.

It covers the period from the First Sunday of Advent through Epiphany.

Hard copies are available at the office, or you can download your own copy:  ADVENT-BOOK-2017

Brecksville UCC Choir Seeking New Singers

  • If you enjoy singing in a group setting;
  • If you’re looking for fellowship and spiritual growth;
  • If you can match pitches (or sing “Happy Birthday” in tune);
  • If you appreciate a diversity of musical styles;
  • If you’re looking for an affirming, positive, welcoming bunch of people to sing with…
Then please consider singing with the BUCC choir! We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00, although currently our seasonal choir is practicing from 7:00-8:00 in preparation for the annual Christmas cantata; then regular choir rehearses from 8:00-9:00. You are invited to practice with us during either – or both – of these hour-long rehearsals. Church services are on Sunday mornings at 10:00; the choir meets at 9:00 to warm up and practice the anthem a few times before service begins. If you are interested in sharing your musical gifts with an upbeat, inclusive choir and congregation, come check us out some Thursday evening. You’ll be glad you did! For more information, feel free to call Dave Debick at 440-526-4364 or email.

SHOWING HOSPITALITY TO STRANGERS

SHOWING HOSPITALITY TO STRANGERS is a Divine imperative in both the Old and the New Testaments. One important and rewarding way that several of our BUCC members are doing this, is through their volunteer work at Thomas Jefferson International Newcomers’ Academy. Assisting these students who are newly arrived in our country not only helps them academically, it also acclimates them to their new culture and lets them know that they are welcomed and affirmed by good hearted people! If you would like to learn more about volunteering, please talk with Pastor Dave [440-526-4364].

Need your Photo Release Forms

COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH MINISTRY is making continual updates) to our website. One of the suggestions that we are looking forward to implement is to populate the current pictures (especially on the home page) with pictures/photos from our own church family. In order to do that, we are requesting that you review the Social Media Policy and Release Form. We want to be sensitive to people’s privacy but also celebrate all the wonderful happenings that occur every week at our church. Please go to our Communication and Outreach Ministry page to complete the social media photo/video release form. Copies also are in the office. Thanks for your cooperation. If you should have any questions, call Jim Duffy @ 216.644.2784 or JMorganDuffy@gmail.com

Personal Sound System Available

BUCC has the latetest, up-to-date version of the Williams personal sound system.

It may just be your answer if you are concerned: (1) that the quality of sound deteriorates between the speakers and your pew in the sanctuary, or (2) that your hearing is getting poorer but not yet bad enough to buy hearing aids, or (3) that you have hearing aids and you want to hear even better or (4) that you are bothered by the route 82 traffic noises or any noise generated by your pew mates during worship.

Receivers are available in the narthex for you to borrow which pick up ALL PARTS of the worship service – sermon, readings, choir and organ music, etc. Just plug in one of our head phones, your favorite Walkman head phones or any other unit with a 3.5mm plug and you are ready for a new hearing experience.

Don’t know if you want to do this?

Then try it out; borrow one of the church’s head phones and “test drive” a Williams receiver during a worship service.

And if you already have digital hearing aids, an even better experience awaits you. Simply have your audiologist activate the teleloop option of you hearing aids, borrow a receiver with a teleloop plugged in and experience sound quality you never would have expected. The sound remains electronic all the way from the speaker’s mic to your ear drum.

One of our ushers and members of the Spiritual Life Ministry are ready to help you get started. Check with them before the service next Sunday. Your questions are gladly answered.
